The first thing is, when everybody tells me 'I don't have time for this,' I'm like, 'Call me. Let me tell you about time.'
Background
Mallorie Rauch and her husband are both licensed physician assistants working full-time in healthcare. Between two young kids, two rental properties, and three per-diem jobs, she'd wanted to build something of her own for years — partly so her kids could watch her build a business and learn entrepreneurship isn't only a traditional path. She joined Vendingpreneurs in March 2025.
"I think we suffer from analysis paralysis... we were actually looking at doing something outside of our regular jobs for about 10 years."
The Challenge
Real estate and business acquisition both demanded large down payments and real risk — their two rental properties alone required $152,000 and $260,000 with 20 to 25% down. In October 2024 she and her husband bought two vending machines off Facebook Marketplace and had no idea what to do with them; the machines just sat in storage.
"I'm putting in machines that are anywhere from 3 to 5,000, and I'm like, if this doesn't work out, that's fine — we're going to be okay. Versus if this house collapses and catches fire and our insurance is screwed, we're out a lot of money."
The Turning Point
Joining Vendingpreneurs finally gave them a process and a marketing flyer, and got their machines out of storage.
"March of 2025 we joined Vendingpreneurs — game changer... finally we get a marketing flyer, and within 10 days we land our first location, and we're able to get these machines out of storage."
Where They Are Now
They now run six locations generating roughly $4,000 a month. Their top location, a boat-captain school, brings in $1,700 a month; a gym location selling wholesale protein powder and creatine earns $15 to $25 margin per transaction. Next month they're installing three machines at a law office with 500 employees on site daily. Their kids now help pick orders at night, and their five-year-old recently told Mallorie the thing she was proudest of that day was helping her parents with their business.
"There is a point in time where you just start to realize that your time is worth much more than what they're willing to offer in a W2 position."
