If there's any part of you that wants to have your own business — or specifically vending — you've got no reason not to do it. If you do the work, you ain't going to fail; it's going to work out.
Background
John and Lauren Sanchez moved from San Diego to Florida in June 2024 with, in John's words, "nothing really promised to us." John held a real estate license and had previously run a personal training business; a remote sales job he took after the move fizzled out, and he now works full-time in sales for a home builder. Lauren stays home with their two-year-old. It became a family effort: John's father-in-law handles financing and his sister-in-law does the books. The connection to Vendingpreneurs came through Lauren's sister, who played college lacrosse at Oregon under Mike Hoffman's wife.
"We didn't really have anything promised to us when we moved out here."
The Challenge
After the move, their savings started running down and John's remote sales job didn't work out. The idea of a vending business sat untouched for months while the family just talked about it.
"We had some savings saved up, and by the end of the year we were at a point — we're like, 'Shoot, this savings, man, we got to do something here.'"
The Turning Point
In January 2025, John decided he had to act, and started doing lead generation and pop-ins in earnest. Their first contract came about a month later.
"I really felt compelled — I got to put my hand to this, I want to get involved with this. So January 2025 I really started to do a lot of the lead generation, a lot of the pop-ins, and we got our first contract like a month later, in February 2025."
Where They Are Now
The Sanchezes now run seven locations, with their best month (April) bringing in about $14,500, averaging roughly $2,000 per location. John still works four days a week at his day job and stocks the route around it, alongside Lauren. Their goal is 10-plus locations and about $30,000 a month within a year.
