Step 1: Find the decision-maker

The pop-in
Walk in, ask one question, leave with a name.
Members place most of their first machines by walking into a qualified building unannounced. The goal of a first visit is not to close — it is to find out who decides and when they are in. Expect rejection to be the normal outcome, because it is: this is a numbers exercise, and the operators who place machines quickly are the ones who did enough pop-ins to stop taking them personally.
- Ask who handles building services or amenities, and when they're available
- Leave something physical behind with your name and number on it
- Treat rejection as the base rate, not as feedback on the pitch
- Work all five shortlisted locations, not the one that was friendliest
